Star Fleet Entertainment Yachts Review

How do you spend your Sunday evening? Getting ready for the new school/work week? Why not unwind and treat yourself to two hour entertainment cruise on the Clear Lake/Galveston Bay with Star Fleet Entertainment Yachts?                             Star Fleet is the most popular dinner cruise company in Texas. They have been offering their services for the past 18 years. Corporate events, weddings, birthdays parties, or just a romantic dinner for two, Star Fleet can make it happen... & I had the opportunity to review their Wine and Food Pairing Cruise.

Wine & Food Pairing Cruise is $79 per adult and it includes:
  • Two Hour Cruise on Clear Lake and Galveston Bay
  • A gourmet salad, entree, and dessert - each paired with their own featured wine
  • Live Entertainment
  • Complementary Soft Drinks, Coffee, Tea & Juices
  • Featured wines can be ordered onboard for home delivery
  • Cash Bar
We were greeted by a photographer before walking on the dock, and at the entrance of the yacht we were greeted by the captain and two employees. We were escorted to our table, and shortly after greeted by our server. Right at 5:00pm the captain welcomed us, introduced the staff and explained what was going to happen for the next 2 hours. The staff is very attentive, they are always around with smile ready to help you with whatever you need or any questions you might have.

As mentioned above there is live entertainment, and it doesn't stop until the boat stops. Your ticket also includes a gourmet salad, all you can eat buffet, dessert, and you get one glass of wine with each one of this.

The gourmet salad(above) was paired with Chateau St. Jean Fume Blanc(2009)

The buffet included your choice of chicken, fish or both(above) was paired with Gloria Ferrer Pinot Noir(2007)

Dessert, my favorite, CHEESECAKE(above) was paired with Umberto Fiore Moscato(2010)

I am not a big fan of wine, and I definitely do not know to pair wine with food. So, for me this was a new experience and Star Fleet Entertainment made sure all my questions were answered and I was well taken care of. The $79 per person is a very reasonable price for a 3 course meal, 3 glasses of wine, live entertainment, and specially the amazing customer service Star Fleet Entertainment offers.

They won me and my husband over, and we have been talking about our great experience since then. We will definitely go back, and hopefully the next time we do we will be bringing a few of our friends with us!

To learn more about Star Fleet, their cruises and availability please visit their website. http://www.starfleetyachts.com/

Disclosure: No monetary compensation was received for this post. I only received two complenmentary tickets to review the Wine & Food Pairing Cruise.

Mr. Popper's Penguins

The life of a businessman begins to change after he inherits six penguins, and as he transforms his apartment into a winter wonderland, his professional side starts to unravel.

I was invited to a special screening of Mr. Popper's Penguins this past Saturday. I had not watched the previews or heard of the book before, so everything was a surprise to me.

The movie begins with a flashback into Mr. Popper's childhood and after we learn a little about his childhood, it introduces us to a grown executive. Mr. Popper is a successful executive, divorced, struggling to understand his kids. In the movie he is given the bad news that his father passed away and he has inherited him six penguins.

At first he quickly calls the right authorities to take the penguins away, but as the days go by he gets closer to the penguins and without even realizing, the penguins bring him closer to his kids and even his wife.

I'll stop there. I don't want to spoil the movie for you! You just have to watch it!!

I really enjoyed watching this movie, I don't know what I enjoyed more Jim Carrey's humor or the lovely penguins. This is a family friendly movie and I recommend you take your kiddos to watch it. Now that I watched the movie, I want to read the book.

Disclosure: I did not receive any type of compensation for this post. I was only invited to a special screening of the movie.

P&G and LULAC "Life Improvement" Seminar

This past Friday I was invited to a special seminar offered by P&G and LULAC, hosted by the recognized journalist, TV host and best-seller author Maria Antonia Collins. The seminar was hosted at the LULAC National Education Service Center in Houston, TX and I was given the opportunity to meet and interview her a few minutes before the seminar(I will tell you how that went later on)! This was a free seminar, open to the public to give tips on how to get the best value for your money without sacrificing quality and how to simplify your everyday household routine. Maria Antonieta started off the seminar by announcing the BIG $250,000 contribution P&G and its brands Tide, Downy, Gain, Bounty and Pampers donated to LULAC centers, the donation was made to continue supporting LULAC and their free programs such as English, computer, test prep classes and scholarship assistance.

I met Alba from Independent Mami at the LULAC center to interview Maria Antonieta Collins. We were both very nervous and didn't know what we were going to ask her. She greeted us with a warm hug and a kiss, which calmed my nerves a little. She stopped us before we could ask her anything, to show us a video that she could not believe they had uploaded to facebook. It's in Spanish but you can watch it here, she cleans her purse while someone is recording her and she describes why she has those things in her purse.

After we watched the video we talked to her more than interviewed her, she is a very humble, and humanitarian. She told us she partnered with P&G to give back to the community that has supported her throughout her career. She has been working with P&G for several years now and this month she will close this project and hopes to continue to work with P&G to inform and give back to the community and support centers such as LULAC.

The Mission of the League of United Latin American Citizens is to advance the economic condition, educational attainment, political influence, housing, health and civil rights of the Hispanic population of the United States(Source: http://lulac.org/about/mission/). Like I mentioned before LULAC offers many programs for adults as well as for kids, visit their website(http://lulac.org/) to find the closest LULAC center to your community and to learn more about the services offered.

I want to give a special thanks to P&G, Tide, Downy, Gain, Bounty and Pampers for the donation given to LULAC and for being a sponsor in this year's LULAC convention. Thank you for giving back to the community.

COVERGIRL NatureLuxe Silk Foundation

"Redefine natural beauty with our lightweight silk foundation. With a touch of cucumber water and a hint of jojoba and rose hip extracts, our light yet luxurious formula takes heavy weight out of your polished finish." Quote source:http://www.covergirl.com/natureluxesilkfoundation

For my every day look, I use to prefer to go with a natural look with bareMinerals, blush, mascara and lipcolor. But after I tried this foundation my point of view on liquid foundation completely changed.

I was not blessed with smooth skin and ever since I was introduced to bareMinerals I had not used any other foundation. Until, COVERGIRL's NatureLuxe Silk Foundation touched my face.
This is the best liquid foundation for my type of skin and complexion. It goes on very smoothly with minimal efforts, and it blends perfectly with my skin tone. It is in fact very lightweight, that sometimes I even forget I have it on.

The last liquid foundation I tried was from MAC, and let me tell you I prefer COVERGIRL's NatureLuxe Silk Foundation over MAC foundation. After a while of wearing the MAC foundation it started rolling down my face. Literally, it was almost like a glob of foundation and it started rolling down my face(foundation was applied by a MAC make-up artist). I have replaced my $30 MAC liquid foundation with COVERGIRL's NatureLuxe Silk Foundation. Lightweight, great coverage, and only $10 compared to $30 who wouldn't?!

I would definetely recommend this product. It is very affordable, it gives great coverage, and it does not irritate your skin. Gives a glow that makes your skin look healthier, perfect for a day look or a night out in town.

Disclosure - No monetary compensation was received for this post. I only received 3 tubes of COVERGIRL's NatureLuxe Silk Foundation to review for this post.

COVERGIRL LipPerfection Lipcolor

COVERGIRL LipPerfection Lipcolor "bright, gorgeous color that can transform your day and your lips. Enriched with a silk moisturizing complex, our formula helps sustain moisture levels and helps create soft, smooth, beautiful lips in just 7 days.*(vs. bare lips)" Quote source: http://www.covergirl.com/beauty-products/lip-makeup/lip-color/lip-perfection-lipstick

A few weeks ago I was given the opportunity to put COVERGIRL's LipPerfection Lipcolor to the test, and here are my thoughts about the lipstick...
This lipstick goes on very smooth and the color is long lasting. It gives me the right amount of shine, without the stickiness of lip gloss. It also gives my lips a slight tint for long lasting color, so you don't have to reapply time after time.

My lips tend to dry in the summer and after using this lipstick for two weeks, my lips are well nourished and hydrated even when I am not wearing it. My favorite shade is 220-Hypnotic, and with 44 shades to choose from, I am sure you too can find the perfect shade for you. I will definitely recommend COVERGIRL LipPerfection Lipcolor to anyone.

Disclosure - No compensation was received for this post, I only received 5 lipsticks for this review.

Open to the public, the seminar will give attendees information and resources to help them simplify their everyday household routine, as well as tips on how to get the best value for their money without sacrificing quality.
“I know by personal experience how hard it can be to be a mother, the executive of my home, go to work not only outside of my home but in a different city and, at the same time, keep my home. It is a complicated endeavor that gets easy when we can count on resources that help us simplify our lives,” said Collins. “That is why I am excited to work with LULAC and P&G to bring these seminars to the heart of our community and share with our people advice to help them make their daily lives more efficient.”
In addition to the P&G-LULAC center at LULAC in Houston, P&G also supports another center in Los Angeles at the Central American Resource Center (CARECEN), located on 2845 West Seventh Street, as well as one in Dallas at LULAC, located at 345 S. Edgefield Ave.
“We are thankful to P&G for its support so we can continue to provide these free services to the growing community and support their educational advancement,” said LULAC National President, Margaret Moran.
“P&G grows by touching and improving more consumers’ lives in more parts of the country,” said Alexandra Vegas, Director Multicultural Business Development North America at Procter & Gamble. “The partnership with LULAC accelerates educational attainment within the Hispanic American community, and provides branded products and services of superior quality to improve lives. We are proud to continue this partnership and excited to team up with Maria Antonieta Collins to further the cause.”

Selena Gomez rocked the MTV Movie Awards

Latina superstar, Selena Gomez, rocked the MTV Movie Awards
red-carpet & stage in CoverGirl make-up last night in LA!

Selena Gomez at the MTV Movie Awards by Celebrity Makeup Artist, Karan Mitchell:

For the MTV Movie Awards, Selena wanted her makeup look to be fresh and flawless. We went with a look that had a soft focus and pretty pink lips.

I started with Selena's eyes. I selected the COVERGIRL Shimmering Sands Eye Enhancer 3-Kits Shadows for her shadow. I used the medium shade of the palette as all over the eye area. I then used the lightest shade on the inside corners and as a highlight under her brow bone.

I then lined her upper and lower lashline with COVERGIRL Perfect Blend Eyeliner in Basic Black. To line the upper lashes I used COVERGiRL LineExact Liquid liner in Very Black and drew a slight wing on the outer corners. I added a few individual lashes and used three coats of new COVERGIRL NatureLuxe Water Resistant Mousse Mascara in Black. This mascara will be available in-store nationwide in July.

For her flawless skin, I used NatureLuxe Silk Foundation in Oak. On her cheeks I applied COVERGIRL Simply Ageless Sculpting Blush in Lush Berry under the cheekbone and blended upward.

I then finished the look with COVERGIRL LipPerfection lipcolor in the soft shimmering pink shade Sweetheart and COVERGIRL ShineBlast Lip Gloss in Dazzle.

Wendy's Berry Almond Chicken Salad Review & Giveaway

Thanks to Wendy's and The Motherhood this past weekend I had the opportunity to meet for the first time with some local bloggers and try out the new Berry Almond Chicken Salad & Wild Berry Tea. A great way to kick off Memorial Weekend if you asked me.

We arrived at our local Wendy's and noticed that the restaurant was full of Houston bloggers and their families, we ordered our food and got to the reviewing, tweeting and snapping pictures.

The salad is a mixture of fresh blueberries and strawberries on a bed of romaine and iceberg lettuce, with roasted almonds and asiago cheese, topped with a warm, juicy, grilled chicken breast.

The salad is offered in half-size and full-size servings, I opted for full-size serving which is perfect for lunch. With just the perfect amount of ingridients... I love how I get the juiciness from the chicken, the sweetness from the berries and the crunchiness from the almonds all in one bite. If you are like me and love to eat healthy without sacrificing taste, you MUST try this salad. Not only is rich in flavor and antioxidants, it is only 450 calories for the full-size salad(without dressing). A full package of the dressing is only 50 additional calories and you can add as little or as much as you would like.

I paired my salad with Wendy's new Wild Berry Tea. Made with real blackberries, strawberries, and raspberries. Contains no artificial colors or flavors.

This two make the perfection summer salad/drink combination!

After we finished trying out the new items on the menu, we headed over for some fun at a nearby park. There I was able to talk and learn a little more about the bloggers I had not met and of course reunite with two of my favorite bloggers! Sara from Momma Findings and Alba from Independent Mami
