COVERGIRL @ The 2012 American Music Awards

COVERGIRL Taylor Swift at the 2012 American Music Awards, by makeup artist, Lorrie Turk

· Taylor wanted her knock-out dress to be the inspiration for her AMA red carpet look. She wanted a high-impact look, and we needed one that could also be easily altered to go into her performance look.

· I lightly buffed COVERGIRL NatureLuxe Silk Foundation onto her face with a synthetic foundation brush, and powdered only through the center of her face to leave a nice dewy finish on her skin. I then lightly brushed on TruBlend Minerals Blush in True Romance for some soft color and shimmer.

· I started by dabbing on (using my fingertip) COVERGIRL Intense Shadow Blast in Brown Bling as a base. Next, I brushed on (with an eyeshadow brush) Eye Enhancers 1-kit shadow in Brown Smolder all over the lid, from the lash-line to just beneath her brow bone and her lower lash-line. Using Liquiline Blast Eyeliner in Black Fire, I then lined her upper and lower lash-line heavily, blending up and out to eliminate hard lines, leaving her eyes soft and smoky. We finished with several coats of (New!) LashBlast Clump Crusher mascara in Very Black.

· Lastly, I used NatureLuxe Gloss Balm in Grenache, applying it directly from the tube.

COVERGIRL P!NK at the 2012 American Music Awards, by makeup artist, Kathy Jeung

· P!NK’s beautiful bronze leather and chiffon dress was modern and strong, yet feminine, so we wanted to do a makeup that reflected that, a simple, paired down but glowing, glamorous beauty look. We've been doing a lot of smokey eyed looks lately, so thought we'd mix it up and do a look that felt a bit like old Hollywood glamour, but in a modern way, with focus on the eyes, especially the lash line and lashes.

· I applied foundation using a foundation brush and then further blended with a moistened sponge, then set with a light dusting of COVERGIRL Professional Loose Powder powder around the t-zone. For touch-ups, I used COVERGIRL Clean Oil Control Pressed Powder. I first applied a peach shade blush, CG Classic Color Blush in Natural Glow on the apples of the cheek and blended outward and up. Then I applied a shimmery bronzer, CG Cheekers Bronzer in Golden Tan along the upper outer cheekbone area and also on outer temples (upper sides of face near eyes).

· For eyebrows, I used a few soft strokes of CG Brow & EyeMakers Pencil in Soft Blonde to define, then brushed into place with CG Profession Natural Lash clear mascara. For the eyes, I first applied CG Eye Enhancers in Champagne all over the lid and on the brow bone. Next I applied a bronze shadow, CG Eye Enhancers in Mink into the crease and blended well. Along the outer corner of the eye, I used a metallic color that wonderfully matched her dress, CG Eye Enhancers in Tapestry Taupe. To get depth along the lash line, CG Liquiline Blast Eeyeliner in Black Fire, drawn with a bit of a cat eye shaped at the outer corners, then smudged. Over that to further define, I used CG LineBlast 24 Hour Eyeliner in Enduring Black, in a thin line along lash line. Along the outer lower lash line, I again used CG Eye Enhancers in Tapestry Taupe to accent to cat eye shape. To add a little more dimension and to further blend, I added CG Cheekers Bronzer in Copper Radiance in the area around the brow bone with a medium fluffy brush. Over curled lashes, I apply 2 coats of CG Clump Crusher by LashBlast Mascara in Very Black on the top lashes. Because of its amazing staying power with no smudges, I used CG LashBlast 24HR Mascara on the lower lashes - 2 coats to really bring out her already long lower lashes.

· (For P!NKs performance, I lined the inside upper and lower rims of eyes with CG Liquiline Blast Eeyeliner in Black Fire and added CG Eye Enhancers in Shimmering Onyx around the outer corners of her eyes, then colored cream shadow and pigment powders all over her face and body)

· I prepared the lips with a lip balm while I was doing skin preparation so it had a chance to absorb into lips. I started with CG LipPerfection Lip Liner in Smoky to define the lip edges, and then added CG Outlast All-Day Lipcolor in Faint Hue, let that set, then applied the corresponding clear lip gloss over to add more shine.

30 for 30 Challenge

Since giving birth to our son back on March I have managed to lose all my baby weight(50lbs). I am very happy about that, but I'm still not at my desire weight. My BMI still considers me "overweight" and I would like to see it back in the "normal" range. My goal now is to lose an additional 15-20lbs on top of the already 50lbs lost. & this time of year it's a little harder to lose weight with the holidays fast approaching. This means turkey, pies and yummy casseroles. But it also means extra calories to burn.

So this month besides training for the Turkey Trot run I decided to join Alba from Independent Mami in her 30 for 30 challenge. She herself had a beautiful baby girl December of last year. Alba also has managed to lose her baby weight, so congrats to her on that! But she is also not happy with the way her body looks and wants to lose more weight and wants a flat belly. So her challenge for November is 30 sit-ups for 30 days. Sound very doable. So I have decided to give up 5minutes of time a day and join in on the challenge.

If you would like to join the challenge visit Alba over at Independent Mami and link up your post!

Trick or Treating Safety Tips

Halloween is one of the days of the year kids anxiously anticipate. Here are a few tips to make trick or treating fun and safe for everyone.

-Make sure to map a route beforehand if you are not familiar with the neighborhood you will be trick or treating at.

-Never let your child out of your sight! Walk with them up to the door and wait for them until they get their candy.

-Wear comfortable shoes and avoid bulky/heavy costumes.

-Make sure to check your local weather and make plans according to Mother Nature.

-Don’t forget to take a flashlight to light your child’s path as they trick or treat, and carry extra batteries in case they are needed.

-Wear reflective gear so others, especially cars can spot you in the dark.

To me the gift of motherhood is the most precious gift a woman can receive. Let's take care of our little ones and keep them safe!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN FROM CAPTAIN ISAIAH & HIS MATES!!!

I hope everyone has a fun and safe afternoon trick or treating.

A week ago my girlfriends and I had the opportunity to review the amazing Inspire for Women Sports Earphones by Yurbuds! I was very excited when I found out I had been selected to have this in home mommy party. For those of you that have not heard of this amazing earphones, please read below.

Yurbuds are sports headphones that will NEVER fall out! & I can attest to this. My #1 problem with earphones even headphones was that they will ALWAYS fall out, I will spend more time putting my earphones back in than actually running.

As I have mentioned before one of my favorite hobbies is running, my next run is the Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving Day. It's a 10k (6.2mi) and I'm currently training for it, yurbuds makes my training more easier and fun. It delivers great sound and I can clearly hear my pace and current speed every time my running app sends me an update.

Here are some of the cool features of yurbuds.

____________________________________________________________________________________________________

Our thoughts:

The guests loved the earphones!

"Very chic & colorful"

"Simple, easy to use & the product delivers what it promises."

"Love the color, size & style. Finally a pair of earphones that do not fall out."

We put the earphones to the test. We went to the famous Memorial Park Running Trail here in Houson, TX and all I heard was great things. Finally yurbuds earphones have been design to deliver great sound, they very colorful and chic, and do not fall out!

Check out our post workout pics below.

Since I received my party kit I have been using yurbuds and I love them! Will definitely recommend you try them out if you are in the market for new earphones or if you struggle with your earphones like I did before you must try yurbuds. Photobucket

Free Templates for Pumpkin Carving

For the past couple of years my husband and I have made it a tradition to carve pumpkins. It's a great to spen quality time together and they look great out in our front lawn. This year it will be more fun and special because we will have 3 pumpkins instead of two. We will help our baby boy carve his first pumpkin. And even though he will have no clue of what we are doing we will make sure to capture the moment and share the pictures with him later on.

This are the pumpkins we carved last year. Mine is the one on the right and the one on the left is the hubby's.

Here are a few tips that can help you when carving pumpkins:
  • If you're a begginer select a simple pattern.
  • Pick a large pumpkin & make sure it's not bruised.
  • Use a battery operated tealight instead of a real candle to prevent a fire.
  • Do NOT eat a pumpkin that has been carved.
  • Buy a carving kit, it's easier to carve a pumpkin with the right tools.

Halloween is right around the corner now it's a good time to carve your pumpkins and display them inside your home or your front lawn.

You can dowload some free patterns here or just type free pumpkin carvin stencils in a search engine, you will find 100s of websites that offer free stencils that range from cute to spooky.

I unfortunately had to skip Saturday, Sunday and Monday from the diet due to my son’s baptismal preparations. His Baptism was simply adorable! Everything turned out great. Monday night I was finally able to get all the ingredients to continue on to Phase 2 of the diet.

I was debating whether to skip to Day 8 of the diet or start on Day 5 where I had left off? I decided that to get the full benefits of the diet I needed to continue where I left off last Friday. Tuesday I started back up on Day 5 and I continue to see results. I love the snacks and meals & I still replace one of my meals with a shake. So today is Day 8 and I am in Phase 2 of the diet. So far I have lost 7.2lbs. WOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! I am doing the Happy Dance. It’s Friday and I am down 7.2lbs since last week.

The hubby is hanging for dear life, about to fall off the wagon! He is a very picky eater so it makes it really hard for him to follow this diet. He does not like yogurt, onions, soups, and my list could go on and on. If he likes it he will eat it, so he is thinking of repeating Phase 1 of the diet. Shakes for every meal. I will let you guys know how that turns out!

My goal for the weekend is to get back in the gym. I have been slacking off and I need to train for a half marathon I’m scheduled to run in January. So I MUST GET BACK IN THERE!

Until tomorrow!

The Digest Diet: Day 4

We have finished Phase 1! & with great accomplishments!! We are very excited to continue on to Phase 2 and see our final results in 17 days. I lost a total of 4.2lbs in 4 days and my husband lost a total of 8.6lbs in 4 days. For a combined total of 12.8lbs!!! We couldn't be happier and it's only the beginning.

Let me apologize beforehand, I would not update you guys tomorrow or Sunday or our progress until Monday night. Sunday is our son's Baptism and we are very busy with the planning. That's is another reason why this post is so short. But I couldn't leave you guys hanging without the results of phase 1.

Until Monday. Hope everyone has a lovely weekend.

The Digest Diet: Day 3

Done with Day 3, 1 more day to go on phase 1 (Fast Release). Today I was tempted by some of my favorite things, jalapeno chips, oatmeal raisin cookies & my mom's cooking! I even asked for a chip, 1. But I did not have anything I wasn't supposed to. I knew I would greatly regret it as soon as I was done eating it. So I stuck to my diet and I had a shake for breakfast, my crunchy snack, the Hearty Chicken Mexican Soup for lunch and another shake for dinner. Nothing new to report, we continue on our path and tomorrow night I will update you guys on my weight loss and the hubby's weight loss.

The hubby refuses to have anything else but shakes for all his meals. He says as long as he is not hungry he can handle one more day of shakes! Whatever rocks his boat. He is happy and looks forward to stepping on that scale tomorrow.

Come back tomorrow to see our update after we are done with Phase 1.

The Digest Diet: Day 2

Day 2 down, 2 more to go on phase 1 (Fast Release). Today was as easy as yesterday. I stuck to the plan had a shake for breakfast, my crunchy snack, a shake for lunch and then I had the Hearty Mexican Chicken Soup for dinner. No hunger, but I did have a small headache in the afternoon. I drank some water and my headache went away.

The hubby decided to replace all his meals with shakes for today! He is being a great support system. Gotta love him!! He has not complained and says he is very satisfied and LOVES the shake. After 2 days I memorized all the ingredients for the shake and we have decided to stick to the Banana Shake and add Cocoa and Cinnamon for flavor.

I know I told you guys I wouldn't update y'all on our weight loss until Day 4 but I just had to share the hubby's weight loss. LOOK BELOW!!!

If you read our initial post he weighed 206.8 at the beginning of the program. That is an incredible 6.6lbs lost in 2 days!!! Only 2 days into the diet and he is already seeing amazing results. As for me, I will keep it a secret until the end of phase 1. You only gotta wait 2 more days.

Hasta maƱana!

The Digest Diet: Day 1

Day 1 was a success. 1 day down, 3 more to go on phase 1 (Fast Release). Today was a piece of cake, and I don't mean that literally. I surprisingly did not feel hungry at all,did not feel lightheaded and I was very satisfied with the servings of the shake and soup.

In the morning I had a Cholately Banana Shake and for lunch I had the Hearty Mexican Chicken Soup. For dinner I had another shake and in between I had a crunchy snack. I drank plenty of water and walked for 30 minutes with my husband.

Talking about the hubby, he loved the shakes but was not a big fan of the soup. He said he would have liked more salt in it but I could only add what the recipe calls for. He said he felt good, no hunger and he was satisfied with the portions of the shakes and soup.
Tomorrow and probably for the remainder of phase 1 I will have chicken soup. I doubled all the ingridients since it's me and the hubby dieting and we have a really big batch of soup.

Until tomorrow, make sure come back to stay updated. I will update y'all on our weigh loss on day 4, the end of phase 1!

Our Journey Begins... The Digest Diet Review

My life changed on March 6, 2012. The day my handsome baby boy was born. I had a smooth pregnancy, with the normal nausea and body aches here and there. But by the end of my pregnancy I had gained 50lbs and I was so ready to drop them. Whithin 2 months I dropped 40lbs, I went back to work and gained 5lbs back. Today I write this post 2.4lbs from my pre-pregnancy weight. But my body looks nothing like it did before I gave birth to my son. I been searching for a solution and I think I found it.

A few weeks ago I was at work flipping through an issue of "The Reader's Digest" and I stopped on a page advertising the famous "Digest Diet" Book. "Drop 26lbs in weeks," can this be possible? I decided to give it a try and order a copy of the book. For the past 5 weeks all my co-worker Sam has heard every morning is "Good morning. My book was not in the mail yesterday." Well tomorrow she will hear "Good morning! My book finally arrived in the mail yesterday!!"

Tonight I made a batch of soup and got all my ingridients ready for Phase 1: Days 1-4 FAST RELEASE. "Flood your body with nutrition: Phase 1 fills ou up on liquid shakes and soups that are rich in vitamins, minerals, and protein, to gently coax your body into quick, safe weight loss."

& I won't embark on this journey alone. My hubby decided to support me and diet along with me.
I will keep you updated on our progress. I will share which are our favorite recipes, our weightloss, measurements and of course if you have any questions leave me a comment below!

LeapFrog Touch Magic Mommy Party

Last month I was invited to host a LeapFrog Touch Magic Party. I had not heard of their new Tough Magic products and when I received the box I was intrigued at the fact that they did not have any buttons! I asked myself how are the younger kids going to know what to touch if they can't see or feel any buttons? Well they just know! The bright colors and lovely characters on the learning bus just caught their attention and of course every kid knows how to rock to a guitar.

We decided to go camping for Labor Day Weekend and several of our friends and their family were going and I took the LeapFrog Magic Touch Guitar and Bus to put them to the test at our camp site.
The bus was very educational. It has several options where it teaches the toddlers letters, sounds, objects, plays music and has several games for the little ones. One of the little ones asked me where were the drums? He said "we have a guitar and a piano but no drums!" Well to their surprise if you look close enough the bus' wheels are a set of drums!!
They sang along, learned how to share and even colored the lovely characters that are on the Magic Touch Bus.
The Magic Touch Rockin Guitar plays and you can sing 10 different fun learning songs.
The learning bus teaches kids 3+ the alphabet and early vocabulary.
A great way to support a child's social skills is by sharing and learning with others.

Both kids and parents were in love with the LeapFrog Learning Toys. LeapFrog teaches kids early fundamental skills like ABCs and 1-2-3s while keeping kids entertained for hours! LeapFrog's learning toys also spark the little ones imaginations while building their social and motor skills. And with their new touch technology the toys are very light and easy to take along like we did on our 4hr drive. It kept my little one entertained until he got tired of rockin out and fell asleep.

To learn more about LeapFrog and their new line of learning toys please visit their website: http://www.leapfrog.com/en/products/learning_toys.html

Be sure to check out the LeapFrog Touch Magic™Rockin’ Guitar Video contest! From now until November 30th, you can enter for a chance to receive a $500 gift card! To enter, visit www.touchmagic.leapfrog.com and upload a video of your kid jamming & learning with Touch Magic™ Rockin’ Guitar. Your friends and family can get it on the fun too, by viewing your video and voting. Evenflo Bebek Collection Review

The Evenflo Bebek Collection features a complete line of bottles, nipples and pacifiers that are all created to feel more like Mom, allowing parent and baby to enjoy the bonding time that feeding provides. The superior, one-piece vented nipple rapidly vents air bubbles into the bottle and not baby's tummy, results in less gas, fussiness and colic. The soft, wide-base nipple also provides an easier latch for baby and for transition from breast to bottle.
Bebek bottles are expertly designed for easy assemble and leak-free feeding. The ergonomic shape makes the bottle comfortable to hold for both you and your baby. The simple one-piece nipple with integrated vent means no extra parts to clean or lose. Bebek bottles are all BPA-free and top rack dishwasher-safe.

I had the opportunity to review the Evenflo Bebek 3-Handle Trainer Cup(below).

  • Promotes smooth transition from bottle to cup
  • Soft spout is gentle on teeth and gums, making drinking easier for little ones
  • Designed with unique, soft handles that are easy to hold from any angle - perfect for little hands
  • Includes one-piece valve and for easy assembly
  • Expertly designed not to leak
  • Top rack dishwasher-safe; handles are removable for easy cleaning
  • Designed for children 4 months and older
  • BPA-free
My son loves the Bebek 3- Handle Trainer Cup! At his short age(5 months) he knows exactly when it's Lunch time and gets super excited when he sees his bright Evenflo Bebek Trainer Cup.

As you can see above the cup it's very easy to handle, specially for their little hands. He got a grip of it in the first try. And with it's no leak design you can feel safe and let them explore this training cup at an early age without a mess to clean up afterwards.
My son is going through the teething stage and his gums are very sensitive, and I am relieved that this training cup has a soft spout unlike other sippy cups.
Overall, it's a great training cup and I would recommend it to all mommas. Easy to clean, easy to handle for the little ones, no leak design and easy on their sensitive little mouths! What else can a first time, overprotective mom like me ask for!?
